MURFREESBORO - The USA Today/ESPN Preseason Baseball Coaches Poll was announced recently and Middle Tennessee garnered 13 votes to rank 38th. The Blue Raiders are the defending Sun Belt Conference champions after going 44-18 last year and return consensus All-American Bryce Brentz.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Senior Calvin O’Neil guided Middle Tennessee throughout the night as the Blue Raiders defeated North Texas 69-64 on Saturday night.

Cannon County Schools will be closed Monday, February 1st 2010. Barbara Parker, Director. In addition, the start of the Cannon County Elementary Basketball Tournament will be postponed due to schools being closed on Monday.

Constable Jim Gibbs spent much of Saturday driving the hilly back roads in a 4 wheel drive vehicle to the homes of people that he thought might need assistance getting out or in need of food. Most of the folks that he found trapped in their homes were willing to just wait out the weather and all seem to have enough food.

NASHVILLE – Valentine’s Day always has a bittersweet edge. It’s a celebration of love for some and an annoying, manufactured holiday for others. But the holiday is also a timely reminder that heartache and negative emotions can be bad for heart health.
“In terms of their contribution to heart attacks, negative emotions are on par with smoking, high blood pressure, obesity, and cholesterol problems,” said Dante Graves, M.D., cardiologist at Saint Thomas Hospital.
