Stones River Hospital is encouraging people to learn about the disease and what they can do to prevent this very common cancer. In 2009 it is estimated that there were 106,100 new cases of colon cancer and 40,870 new cases of rectal cancer. The two combined led to almost 50,000 deaths last year.
