An almost year long arson investigation has yielded the arrest of a local man. Jeffrey L. Thomas was arrested by Cannon County Sheriff's Detective Vance Walker and charged with arson following a mobile home fire which took place on July 8, 2009.

NASHVILLE – Tennessee's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March 2010 was 10.6 percent, down from the February rate of 10.7 percent. The United States unemployment rate for the month of March was 9.7 percent.

NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) today named Trooper Donald “Dewaine” Jennings as the 2009 Trooper of the Year. The announcement was made during a special ceremony Thursday, April 22, at 10:00 a.m., at the THP Training Center located at 283 Stewarts Ferry Pike in Nashville.

An unregistered sex offender has been taken off the streets by the Cannon County Sheriff's Department. Investigator Charlie Wilder arrested Aubrey Gannaway Sanders, age 30 of Melton Hollow Road, this week for failing to register as a sex offender.

NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Matt Kisber announced Wednesday that 100 Tennessee cities and counties were awarded more than $9.2 million in Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants (EECBG) as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
