Ms. Christine Melton Neal, of Brownstown, MI died January 08, 2011. She was 83. A native of Cannon Co., she was the daughter of the late, Edd & Hannah Ferrell Melton and she was married to the late Nelson Neal.

On Thursday, January 13th, Cannon County High School will be hosting a FAFSA Night beginning at 6 p.m.. Eric Farmer with The Tennessee Student Assistance Corp. (TSAC) will be on hand to help answer questions that parents and students may have regarding the FAFSA.

Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation’s Customers Care has donated $7,500 of its Operation Round Up funds to the Cannon County Rescue Squad.

Cannon County Schools will be closed Thursday, Jan. 13th and Friday, Jan. 14th. School will also not be held Monday, Jan. 17th in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. In other news, the Adams Memorial Library in Woodbury will continue to be closed on Thursday, January 13th. The Library Board of Trustees meeting previously scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday has been rescheduled to 5 p.m. on January 20th. The Cannon County Senior Center is also closed Thursday.
