Well by the time you read this, another Christmas has come and gone and a new year is so close we can smell it! Happy 2016 to each of you.
And there have been Christmas parties galore. Thursday the 17th, Ernestine Tate enjoyed the season with her family. Enjoying the festivities with her were John and Kim Francis and Callie Francis, Jenny Francis, Brooklyn and Londyn, Megan Davis, John and Angie Davis and Justin, Ann Bryson, Sherry and Tony Young and Grady George.
Friday night it was off to coaches Tim and DeAnna Reed's home for the basketball girls' annual "chocolate Christmas Party". Enjoying a good time were Mary Beth Patterson, Katie Hancock, Destiny Wood, Katelyn Duggin, Baleigh Fulkerson, Caitlyn Crook, Hannah Junker, Kiley Hughes, Olivia Robbins, Leighanne Dodd and Sara Wheeler.
It was off to Cedar Grove for Terry and Betty Thomas and Madison Gaither. They enjoyed the annual "Christmas Barn Party" hosted by son Patrick Thomas and Howard and Clarenita Hamilton.
The house of Gene and Wilma Harris' was full Christmas Eve when Martye Harris, Nick and Leah Wilson, Allie, Eli, Maya and Isaiah, Josh and Rebecca Tate, Maggie and Levi and Jerry and Beverly Bryan gathered in for their annual good Christmas times.
Both Auburn Baptist and Prosperity Baptist churches presented their Christmas programs Sunday the 20th. Auburn's was held that night with the theme "The Christmas Promise". It included both adult and children's choirs.
Prosperity's adult choir performed "There's a New Kid in Town" for the Morning Service. For the Evening service, the children presented "Happy Birthday Jesus" and the youth did interpretive movements to "Mary Did You Know" and Casting Crown's "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day".
You never know who will show up at JimBo's for coffee and or good breakfast food. Two "old" natives, Dwight Hancock and Mike Dutton, strolled in Tuesday for some good chats. You can learn a lot (none of it really useful but funny) about those who come in.
Losing a loved one is never easy but, as I have stated before, it seems around the Christmas holidays is especially hard. Our thoughts, prayers and love to the family and especially wife, Mable, of Hop Turney. He was a great man.
It is such good news that Dawn Maier did not (as far as I know) suffer life-threatening injuries in a head-on collision which happened Wednesday. She is in a Nashville hospital and was to undergo surgery for broken bones - both arms and both legs according to some I have talked with. We send her a speedy recovery.
Shirley Young was another who had surgery Christmas Eve. It was a one-day back surgery. Praying this works for her and she's back on her feet in no time.
Christmas Eve guests at our house were Mark and Karen Stinnett of Brush Creek, Patrick Thomas of Cedar Grove, Robbie Owen, Brad and Stefanie Leach and Joyce Leach. Coming in later after the meal were Tim, and DeAnna Reed, Alayna and Adrianna Reed, Janna and Ryan Womack and Samantha and Madison Gaither.
Also as usual there are lots of viruses attacking people. Jordan Blackburn had type A flu which developed into pneumonia. Lots of our children are also experiencing viral maladies. Sure hope Santa takes these back to the North Pole and freezes them.
It's a birthday the 30th for Brian Leyhew, brothers Dustin (1996) and Dalton (1999) Lack Dawson Reed and Lindsay Cooper. Now we begin all over again with a birthday the first day of the new year - they are: Stacy Baines, Doug Gaither, James Paul Davenport and Kathy Hayes. Joey Reed celebrates his the 3rd and winding up the week on the 5th are Ann Whitaker Thompson and Erica Melton Garrett, Happy birthday!
Susan and Todd Turney celebrate their 22nd anniversary the last day of the year. It is the 11th for Brian and Terri Jackson the 1st day of January. Happy anniversary to both couples.
