Tennessee Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) has received several reports about a phone scam where beneficiaries are told that the caller is from "Medicare" and that they will be getting a new Medicare card. This is true. Medicare is mailing new cards to all current Medicare beneficiaries from April 2018 through April 2019.

But, the scammer is asking to confirm name, address, date of birth and Medicare claim number. THIS IS A SCAM!. Medicare will never call you uninvited and ask you about your personal or private information in order for you to get your new Medicare card. Also, there is not a charge or fee for the New Medicare Cards.

If you receive any such calls or suspicious solicitations, hang up and call the Tennessee Senior Medicare Patrol at 1-866-836-7677.
