PrintThe Cannon County Board of Commissioners met in recess session on Tuesday, Sept. 18 and took the following actions:
• Established a Financial Management Committee to oversee the implementation of the new central financial management system. Members are County Executive Brent Bush, Director of Schools William Curtis, Road Superintendent Wayne Hancock and county commissioners Jim Bush, Randy Gannon, Ronnie Mahaffey and Russell Reed.
• Established a Steering Committee consisting of Brent Brandon, Corey Davenport, Kim Davenport, Jeannine Floyd and Greg Mitchell.
• Referred the establishment of a Board of Zoning Appeals Committee to the Steering Committee.
• Passed two budget amendments submitted by Cannon County Schools.
• Received an offer from Director of Schools Curtis to tour the county's seven schools along with members of the Cannon County Board of Education to assess their needs.
• Discussed selling for scrap four trailers owned by the county which were being used to haul solid waste, pending certification from the Tennessee Highway Patrol they were no longer safe for the road.
• Moved the date of the October meeting to Saturday, Oct.6 from Saturday, Oct. 13.
