Elmus Tenpenny



Elmus Tenpenny, 79, passed away Monday, January 09, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at Woodbury Health and Rehab. He was a native of Cannon Co. and was born on September 20, 1937 to his parents, Hershel B. Tenpenny & Mattie Jane Duggin Tenpenny.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mina Sue Shelton Tenpenny of Woodbury. Together, they raised 3 daughters, Mitzi Brandon of Woodbury, Melanie (Tim) Mayo of Lascassas and Melissa (Dale) Fulghum of Woodbury; 7 loving grandchildren, Michael (Natalie) Burt, Brent (Amy) Brandon, Brian (Danielle) Brandon, Dustin Nichols, Matt Elmore, Brittany (Jacob) Duggin & Ben Fulghum; 5 Great Grandchildren, Anna Grace Brandon, Lilly Duggin, Mason Brandon, Ella Grace Burt & Amelia Faith Duggin; his sisters, Pat (Randall) Reid and Judy Loy all of Woodbury. His nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Lynn Brandon and his sister, Joyce McCullough.

Elmus attended Sunny Slope Church of Christ and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a retired cabinetmaker where he was owner of Tenpenny Cabinet Shop. Mr. Tenpenny was a member of the Cannon Co. Walking Horse Assoc. and the Woodbury Lions Club.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Wednesday in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Herb Alsup officiating. Interment will follow in the Cherry Cemetery. Visisation with the family will be from 3 until 8 pm Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cannon Co. Walking Horse Assoc. or the Cherry Cemetery Trust Fund
