Football, Commission and Coalition Highlight Weekend Activity

The football season concludes for the Cannon County Middle Grades Lions as they host their second annual Cannon Bowl this Saturday October 2nd with the kickoff at 12 noon. The opponent is Community Middle out of Unionville. Cannon played Community earlier this season and lost in a close game.

The Junior Lions youth programs will be on the road for the third consecutive week when they tackle the Carthage Youth Programs. Kickoff for the Flag Football game will be at 4:30 with the Junior pro tackle to follow at 5:30 and the Senior pro tackle at 7:00.

The final Saturday meeting of the Cannon County Commission will take place this Saturday. In September, the Commission voted to uniform all the meetings to Thursdays instead of a quarterly meeting on Saturdays. The meeting will take place at 10A at the Cannon County Senior Center. The Center will host the meeting since the Courthouse was reserved in case of an September 25th rain-out of the Color Of Fall Car Show.

Pastor Greg Mitchell and Center Hill Baptist Church will be hosting a Cannon County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition presentation on awareness of the dangers of drugs and addiction. Will Taylor, Lifeline Peer Coordinator Regional Overdose Prevention Specialist for Tennessee contracted through the State Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse and Jamie Harper, Community Coordinator will be the speakers during the Sunday morning service. Each connect with communities of faith to recruit, train, and certify through the Tennessee Certified Recovery Congregation program.
