The Cannon County Historical Society will meet Tuesday, July 8 at 7 p.m. at the Cannon County Senior Citizen Center, located at 609 Lehman Street.

The guest speaker will be Dr. King Jamison who will present information on the search for old Fort Nash.

Lines from “The Ghost of the Garrison,” authored by Jamison, will introduce his presentation.

“I could imagine the voices of the early settlers of the Garrison Fork valley and the Brawley Fork valley and the watchmen on the walls of the old stockade calling from the distant past for recognition. But, Old Fort Nash remained lost somewhere in the hills of Robinson's Ridge. Only the ghosts of the Garrison knew the truth and cried out for it to be known.”

A basic premise of the book are Civil War maps drawn up by Capt. W.E. Merrill of the cartographic section of the Army of the Cumberland and published in the Official Atlas of the Civil War that correctly position Fort Nash.

We will meet at 6:30 p.m. for snacks and refreshments. Dr. Jamison's presentation will begin at 7 p.m.
