James Edward Schoen, age 74, died Tuesday July 15 at St. Thomas Rutherford following an extended illness. He was a native of Altamont, South Dakota and a member of Harvest View Church. He was a retired tool & die maker, teacher and farmer, a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of American Legion Post 279 in Woodbury.
James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Schoen; 2 Sons, James M. (Wanda) Schoen of Lebanon and Edward L. Schoen of Woodbury; Siblings, Stephen Lancin of Henderson, June Henry of Romulus, MI, Gerald (Linda) Schoen of Boring, OR, Geraldine (Tony) Patranella of Bryan, TX; grandchildren: Lance (Ashley) Schoen of Murfreesboro, Celia (David) Bernheisel of Raleigh, NC, Kayla Schoen of Woodbury and Spencer Schoen. James was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Schoen & Verna Hilton Schoen Johnson; sisters, enora Mae Schoen & Thelma Cresap Thorp and several nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday July 18 at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Derrick Hartley officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Gardens with full military honors. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 9:00 PM Thursday.
