McReynolds, Whited finish strong

Jordan Turney, Elva Magana, Marshall McReynolds and Hannah Whited medaled at the 38th annual Tennessee Classic.

NASHVILLE - Marshall McReynolds continued his outstanding season as one of the top runners in the Midstate when he turned in a Top 15 finish at the prestigious 38th annual Junior Ward Tennessee Classic at Steeplechase.

McReynolds finished 11th out of more than 250 participants with a 18:07.0.

Jordan Turney also had another smashing performance, finishing 21st with a time of 18:48.0. The Lions finished 10th overall in the meet that brings the top public and private schools together. 

Also leading the Lions were Jake Burdick (51st, 19:39.70), Devin Gilpatrick (113st, 20:57.10), and T.J. Paul (121st, 21:15.90). Umar Rasul and Sam Sissom also participated for the Lions.

Whited, a freshman, had another sterling effort. She finished 23rd overall to lead the Lionettes with a 22:51.20. There were more than 200 girls in the race.

Cannon County finished 10th out of 22 teams overall.

In addition to Whited, Elva Magana also had a strong showing with a 23:06.8 to finish 28th. 

McReynolds, Turney, Whited and Magana all earned medals for their performances. Cannon County has had players medal in every meet.

Also participating and helping the Lionettes’ team score were Macy Clements (61st, 24:30.20), Kristen McReynolds (85th, 26:09) and Sarah Hickman (99th, 27:17.80).

Also participating for the Lionettes were Autumn King (102nd, 27:24.10) and Katie Hickman (108th, 27:49.80).
