The 16 men (three, five-man crews and a mobile mechanic) returned Saturday from helping restore power to the members of Snapping Shoals Electric Membership Corporation in Covington, Ga., in the wake of Hurricane Irma.
Throughout the last week, the team has been assisting with power restoration efforts, clearing trees from downed lines, repairing broken poles and stringing new lines.
"We are very proud of the work these guys did," said Chris Jones, MTEMC president and CEO. "They embody the nature of the cooperative and the Volunteer spirit, and we're happy to have them home "
The Middle Tennessee Electric crews were joined by other volunteer crews from cooperatives across the state. The volunteer electric crews were sent to various locations throughout the storm ravaged area to assist cooperatives who had damage after Hurricane Irma.
Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation is a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative providing electricity to more than 220,000 residential and business members in Williamson, Wilson, Rutherford, Cannon and surrounding counties.
