State Senator Mark Pody (R-Lebanon) and Representative Clark Boyd (R-Lebanon) announced Tuesday that the Cannon County Library System will receive a Training Opportunities for the Public (TOP) grant in the amount of $5,864 from the Tennessee Secretary of State. The grant provides funding for trainers, hardware, and software for free technology training classes for the community.

"In a world where technology is constantly changing, it is important for our citizens to continually strengthen their technology skills in order to stay competitive in the job market and remain connected to the world," said Senator Pody. "I applaud the efforts of the Cannon County Public Library System for procuring this grant and recognizing the benefits technology training can bring to our community."

Specifically, this grant allocates $350 for training; $3,264 for hotspots; and $2,250 for coding subscriptions.

"I'm very proud to see Cannon County receive this much needed grant," said Rep. Boyd. By investing these funds in training, we're not only adding great value to Cannon County's library, but also our workforce and the community. This is free training and technology that our citizens may not have access to anywhere else. I appreciate the efforts of the Cannon County Library System in working to secure these funds."

The grant funding is made possible by the Tennessee Broadband Accessibility Act , which aims to increase access to broadband internet in rural communities, partnership with the Department of Economic and Community Development.

"I encourage everyone to take advantage of this free technology training, and I look forward to our community reaping the rewards these classes provide." added Pody.
