West Side Celebrates Pi Day

West Side Celebrates Pi Day
March 14 was Pi Day. Pi is a symbol used in math to calculate circumference and area of circles.

Mrs. Gloria Simon challenged WSS to donate 314 cans of food to the Cannon County Food Bank by 3/14. For every can a student brought in, s/he got to vote for a WSS employee to be “pi-d” in the face (with a pie).

In addition, the upper grades (6-8) had a competition to see who could memorize the most digits of pi.  Prizes were awarded and the winner was the student who got  to throw the pie at a WSS employee.

WSS donated 930+ cans to the food bank (1001 pounds of food)

Tristan Morten was the winner of the digit recitation (64+ digits)

Elva Magana was the runner-up.
