The threat of rain has again delayed the Color of Fall Car Show. After considerable discussion, the show has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10 and has been combined with a Cruise-In previously scheduled for that same date.
Registration for the Color of Fall show will begin on Woodbury's Square at 8 a.m. on Oct. 10. Registration for the Cruise-In will begin at 2 p.m.
"We're still hoping for a big crowd," said Carolyn Motley, Chamber coordinator, who explained the annual car show is a community event.
The recent weekend rain has been frustrating for organizers and participants alike, she said.
"I do thank the entire town for their support, especially the Chamber of Commerce members and all of the people who stand up and take part in the show," Motley said.
The Color of Fall Show is a little different from most car shows due to the variety of cars and trucks allowed to participate. Winners are selected in 24 different classes that range from Rat Rods and Race Cars to the Best of Show, which was won by Greg Roger's 1973 Camaro last year.
All makes, models cars and trucks and unique vehicles are welcome to enter. A $20 registration fee is charged. Vehicles must be entered before noon and judges' decisions are final. Goody bags and dash plaques are available for the first 100 entries.
Shade pop-up tents are allowed. A variety of door prizes will be given away including an unusual NASCAR ceiling fan, Motley said.
Registrars for the event include John Barker, Connie Rigsby and Brenda Alexander who are among the number of people who help stage the annual show. Helping with the logistics are Tammy and Roy Freeze, Anthony and Greg Rogers, Daryl Fisher and Neal Appelbaum. Chamber Board members and County Executive Mike Gannon are among those who help along with the Woodbury Police and Cannon County's Sheriff's Office.
Shine and Show Class Sponsors include Boyd's Garage, FirstBank, First National Bank, Higgins Car Wash, Higgins Flea Market, Moonlite Drive-In Theater, Huff & Puff Trucking, Jennings Jewelers, Leland's Furniture, Mitchell and Mitchell Attorneys, Potters Ace Hardware, Russell Celluar/Verizon Wireless, State Farm Insurnace, Sue Patrick CPA and WBRY Radio.
