Lions Head To Dragon Country For Basketball Today

The Cannon County Lions boys basketball team will try to close out the 2019 year by winning their eighth game out of their last nine when they travel to Jamestown to meet the York Institute Dragons in a District 8-AA matchup that was rescheduled from December 10th.
The Lions had their eight game winning streak cut by Gatlinburg Pittman in the Championship Game of the Smoky Mountain Classic December 21st 94-78. It was the only time in the month of December the Lions have lost. The Lions are 9-4 overall and 2-0 is District 8-AA York is 5-4 overall and ringing up a 1-1 in District 8-AA.
The Cannon County Lionettes will get things started this afternoon when they meet the York Institute Lady Dragons. Cannon County is 10-3 after capturing the third place game in the Smoky Mountain Classic beating North Greene by 5, 58-53. York enters the contest 5-4.
Both teams are 1-1 in District 8-AA with York defeating Dekalb and losing to Upperman by 8.
Today's games will be tipping off at 1:00. Plans are to broadcast the games via Facebook Live through our Facebook Page "Cannon Courier News and Events" provided a decent cell phone signal (wifi) is available.
