The Cannon County Lionettes Middle Grades softball team are now just three games away from making a storied run in the Duck River Valley Conference Tournament which began a little over a week ago. The Lionettes Monday night eliminated Cascade from the postseason using a three run fifth inning to beat the host team 3-2.
It was the second consecutive elimination game for the Cannon County team as the Lionettes lost the second game of the double elimination tourney prior to winning now two in a row,
Tonight the Lionettes will face the team which gave them that loss in Community School at 5:00.
If the Lionettes win, the Lionettes will immediately play Liberty of Bedford County in the District Championship. Liberty has gone through the tournament undefeated. The district tournament championship is slated to start at 7p. If the Lionettes can win there, it will set up a winner takes all championship Wednesday evening.
Also on tonight's slate, the Cannon County High School Football team is hosting a weight lift-a-thon at the football fieldhouse. The event will be broadcast live on Cannon Courier News and Events Facebook page beginning at 5:00. The lift-a-thon will go until 7p
Other games on the schedule today Lions soccer will host Covenant Academy at 6p. High School Tennis welcomes Warren County to Spurlock Park at 3:30. High School Baseball travels to Upperman tonight.
