Moore County is next stop for Lions

Two more consecutive away games left before the Cannon County Lions play on their own field again.

This Friday the Lions will travel to Lynchburg, home of the Moore County Raiders. Both teams are coming off their first loss of the season.

The Cannon County defense will get another chance to showcase themselves as the Lynchburg team loves to keep it on the ground.

In its two wins, Moore County ran for 353 yards against Cascade and 378 against Community. The Lions gave up a few big runs in their loss against Sequatchie County last Friday, but overall have been doing a great job stopping the run and limiting big plays.

Moore County comes off a region-opening loss to Cornersville 39-0. Cornersville looks like they will mirror last season's 13-2 record as they are off to a 3-0 start.

Moore County's two wins have been against the two Bedford County schools who are a collective 0-6 going into Week Four.

This will be the third of four 1-A non-region opponents the Lions will face this season and the most challenging so far.

Lions quarterback Reece Smith is expected to play Friday night after suffering an injury in last week's loss to Sequatchie.

As Coach Matt Daniel has eluded, the next opponent is the most important opponent of the season. Even though this is not a region game, the schedule is built for the Lions to grow and gain valuable experience as each game approaches.

The Lions will be challenged as a team to respond to last Friday's loss with a dominating performance against a smaller school. If the Lions can win Friday it will be the second road win which can build even more confidence which will be helpful going into Week Five in Baxter.

Game time in Lynchburg is 7:00.
