Multiple meth-related charges were filed Wednesday night against three people following a raid at a home on Short Mountain Highway.
Arrested were Jimmy Douglas Davis, 51, Summer Faith Clendenon Foster, 35, both of Short Mountain Highway, and Susan M. Walker, 29, of Morrison. Preliminary hearings are set for May 7 in General Sessions Court.
The Department of Children's Services was called and they removed three children from the residence. The children were placed with a family member.
Charges included manufacture of methamphetamine, maintaining a dwelling to manufacture meth, possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Seized were 13 one-pot meth labs, two coffee filters containing a white powder believed to be meth, $1,777 in cash and an assortment of items identified as drug paraphernalia including plastic tubing and lithium batteries.
Sumner Foster, after being approached by Sheriff's Investigators Brandon Gullett and Anthony Young, consented to a search of the residence.
In the basement of the home, Gullett was shown several bags under a cabinet that contained various drug paraphernalia and inside the cabinet was a leather bag that held a meth lab.
Foster reportedly admitted the items were hers and told officers that was the only meth materials they would find.
Subsequently, Sheriff Darrell Young found several more meth labs hidden on the premises. A total of 13 one-pot meth labs were discovered.
The one-pot method of cooking meth uses a sealed container ranging from a fuel can to a two-liter soft drink bottle. The meth ingredients are added to the bottle (or pot) which is flipped over beginning the chemical reaction. The bottle is then shaken, giving the process the other nickname of "shake and bake" meth. Explosions are fairly common.
Gullett had Deputy Jordan McGee contact the Tennessee State Methamphetamine Task Force for a cleanup at the residence. He also served a Notice of Forfeiture seizure form for the $1,777 in cash.
