Mose Tolliver said about his home growing up, "... it was just a shack, but my Mama had pictures all over the walls.”
"Bird and Tree" features a common subject in Tolliver's works. The expressive bird figure demonstrates Tolliver's steady, fluid brush strokes. Tolliver often only used two or three hues in each painting from the cans of house paint he had on hand. Despite this his color schemes were well-balanced, as seen in "Bird and Tree."
Come and view this and other paintings on exhibit in Cannon Hall at the Arts Center of Cannon County. Cannon Hall is open 10 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
