Regular Season Ends As Pickett County Cancels Monday Night's Game

The 2021-2022 high school regular basketball season for Cannon County officially came to an end Saturday as Pickett County High School officials called and cancelled the game which was supposed to be played Monday night at Robert A. Harris Gymnasium.
The Cannon County Lionettes end the regular season 12-14 overall and 2-4 in District 6-AA play. They will enter the first and semi-final round of the district tourney as the third seed and will play Friday against Smith County who finished 4-2. Smith swept the season series winning in Woodbury January 7th, 57-49 and surviving an upset at home in the final two minutes 44-39. The tournament is hosted at Watertown. Tip-off time will be made official Wednesday morning during the district coaches meeting in Lebanon.
The Cannon County Lions have a 15-12 overall record heading into Saturday's semi-final match at the tournament. The Lions finished the season 4-2 in District 6-AA and are seeded second in the tournament.
The third and fourth seed will be known tonight as Watertown hosts Westmoreland in a rescheduled game from January 7th. Watertown won by 5 at Westmoreland January 28th.
The semi-final game is set for Saturday February 19th.
